From Darkness into Grace

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” — John 1:5

Welcome to our mission. Before you read about what we do, we want to share why we do it. Every meal served, every resource provided, and every life touched through this ministry flows from a single truth: No soul is ever too far gone for the grace of God.

A Heart of Stone in a Concrete Cell

For the first thirty years of my life, I believed that when you died, the lights simply went out. I didn’t believe in God. I hated Christians, viewing their faith as a foolish crutch. My life was defined by choices that led me down a dark, destructive path, until 1991, when I found myself sitting in a prison cell at age 30—isolated, bitter, and facing the consequences of an evil life.

Then came a day that altered my eternity.

A prison chapel call was announced. Out of sheer boredom, I walked in and met an evangelist named Jimmy Smith. He didn’t look at us with judgment; he looked at us with Christ’s eyes. That day, the Holy Spirit shattered the thick walls around my heart. I realized I wasn’t just a bad man needing a second chance—I was a dead man needing resurrection. In that chapel, I surrendered my life to Jesus Christ.

The lights didn’t go out; for the first time in my life, the True Light came on.

Restored to Serve

When God set me free from prison, He didn’t just forgive my past—He rebuilt my entire life.

He opened doors no ex-convict could expect, giving me a long, blessed career in the print industry and the privilege of teaching graphic arts at a college in Massachusetts. Even more wonderfully, God brought a devoted, faithful Christian woman into my life to be my wife and partner in faith. Together, we built a life centered on Christ. But our faith was not forged in easy times—it was refined in the deepest valleys of sorrow.

Faith Refined Through Grief

Our faith was tested by losses that break human hearts. Together we survived the death of our son, who was diagnosed with bilateral schizencephaly and went home to the arms of Jesus at just three months old. Years later, tragedy struck again when our vibrant 10-year-old daughter was killed by a drunk driver.

To hold a dying infant, and to say goodbye to a young daughter the laughter of whom once filled your home, is a pain beyond words. In those dark, tear-stained nights, the world told us we had every right to be bitter and turn away from God.

But Jesus held us when we couldn’t stand.

In our deepest agony, His grace proved sufficient. He wept with us, healed our broken hearts piece by piece, and bound us together in His love. Out of the ashes of our grief, He birthed in us a sacred compassion for those who are hurting and alone.

35 Years Later: The Mission Today

Today, 35 years after walking out of that prison chapel, I am still standing—a sinner saved by unmerited grace.

With a Diploma in Divinity and Christian Ministry from Christian Leaders Institute and ordination and licensure through Christian Leaders Alliance, I have the honor of teaching biblical theology and helping others dive deep into God’s Word. Together, my wife and I have also created a free Pre-Marriage Counseling course to help young couples build strong, Christ-centered marriages without financial stress.

Though I am retired from my career in graphic arts, my life’s true calling is right here on the streets.

God led us to co-found this non-profit ministry to serve the homeless, the hungry, and the forgotten. When I look into the eyes of a cold, hungry man or woman living on the street, I don’t see a stranger. I see myself in 1991—broken, lost, and desperate for hope.

Every meal we hand out and every resource we provide comes with a message: No matter how dark your cell is or how heavy your burden, Jesus sees you, loves you, and is ready to restore you.

Join Us in Bringing Light to the Darkness

This ministry exists because God brought light into my darkest cell—and now, He calls us to bring that same light to those who have nothing left.

Whether you are here seeking help, looking for a place to serve, or moved to support our outreach, we invite you to stand with us. Together, we can feed the hungry, comfort the broken, and share the relentless love of Jesus Christ.

To Him be all the glory, now and forever.
